Several suggestions were made over on my illustration Facebook page as to which movie tough guy I should tackle next. I liked all of them, but Lawrence Tierney interested me the most.
Tierney is probably most famous for his role in Reservoir Dogs, where he looked like a mountain of mean. But he had a long career in Hollywood--playing mostly tough guys, of course--decades before that, which was when I chose to illustrate him.

Y'know what great movie has a fairly lame movie poster? Before Sunrise. Just saying.
Lawrence Tierney definitely qualifies as a tough guy, but I only know him from his later roles, so it's weird for me to see him with a neck. "Master of the house, keeper of the keep..."
Hi Rob-
Wonderful work. Did you do this from a film still? If so, which film?

It's a great illustration. Tierney was certainly a handsome young man, and he had just the right face for film noir too. There is NO BETTER MOVIE BAD GUY. Someone asked what movie.....looks like you used a still from "Step by Step" as he's wearing the two-tone intelligence officer's jacket with the list in the liner.
